:: Sweets On Sunday: Pavé Milano

Today I want to introduce you to Pavé Milano. A bakery/café/lunch place in the heart of Milan, Italy. I briefly talked about this place in my Milan Travel Diary but thought it’s awesomeness deserved an own post.

Pavé is located not far from Milan Central Station in a small street called Via Felice Casati. A very unremarkable street where Pavé stands out with it’s huge window front. I could already watch the mixture of working customers on their laptops and friends enjoying the cozy atmosphere with an afternoon coffee from outside. It was fully crowded on a rainy day and we were lucky enough to score the probably best seats in store. Two comfortable vintage look armchairs, though every spot in the café has it’s own charm. Half of the seats are placed on the second floor from where you can look down to the busy ongoings on first floor. I think I would like to sit there on my next visit.

Apart from the homey atmosphere, Pavé has an extraordinary selection of products. Fresh Pastries, Bread & Breakfast, Cookies, Oven Baked Cakes, Chocolate Bars, Creams & Jams and a lunch selection. Since this category is called Sweets on Sunday and because I only got the chance to taste two of the pastries, I will focus on the sweet side. Though I can’t give you that much detailed feedback on the taste. But what I can tell you from those two: Pavé focuses on a special harmony of taste and high quality production based on raw materials and a developed craftsmanship. My lemon pastry had an incredible blend of sweet and sour, of a pretty shaped soft cream and a thin but tough flan base. You can taste the hours of perfecting this receipt in every bite.

A must-go on every Milan trip! Or just shop for some cookies or chocolate bars online. Chocolate vegan cookies for my vegan friends or green tea cookies for my matcha addicts…a round up of dark and light chocolate variations…or even some cute quote t-shirts or cups!

Deutsch:
