2017 had a lot of great adventures up its sleeve for me and so far only few of them made it to the blog. As the year is coming to an end I would like to share some of the highlights with you. Before I will smash a huge monster recap up here on December 30th, a few special travel memories will get places of honor.

Let’s start with the weekend in Hamburg that I got to experience together with the marketing department of the harbor city. Wow, the Berlin girl finally got to get to know another German city. The occasion for which they invited me was the Ms Dockville festival which took place at a location maybe 30 minutes from the city center.

:: Sweets on Sunday – Harbour Cake Hamburg

My personal heaven is made out of cakes & pies. Clouds of whipped cream with berries on top. In Hamburg I came across a sweet café that offers dessert matching very much the taste of my fantasies. The place is called Harbour Cake.

Mein persönlicher Himmel besteht aus Kuchen & Torten. Wolken aus Schlagsahne mit saftigen Beeren oben drauf. In Hamburg habe ich ein süßes Café entdeckt, welches Desserts anbietet, die meinen Träumen geschmacklich absolut entsprechen. Der Ort heißt Harbour Cake.

:: Sweets on Sunday – Pasteis de Belem


There is one pastry in Lisbon which you can find at every corner in Lisbon: The Pasteis de Nata. A rather small baked good filed with vanilla flavored milky pudding and with a soft caramelized top. So we established that it is a popular national delicacy but with every dish there are places where they simply taste better.

Es gibt ein Desert in Lissabon, das man an jeder Ecke finden kann. Das Pasteis de Nata. Ein eher kleines Gebäck gefüllt mit milchigem Vanille Pudding und weich karamellisierter Decke. Es steht also fest, es handelt sich um eine beliebte nationale Delikatesse. Wie es mit jedem Gericht ist, gibt es jedoch Orte an denen sie doch einfach besser gemacht werden und demnach besser schmecken.
